Church on the Move

Chapel Hill Independent Methodist Church

by, Mrs. Betsy Hardin

Chapel Hill Independent Methodist Church is on the move! After years of praying and waiting for church growth, Chapel Hill welcomed Bro. Scotty McCay and his family in 2004. The Lord has continued to bless the church with new families and new members, doubling our attendance during the last year.

Chapel Hill is also blessed with a relatively large group of youth. After the Youth Drama Team of First Independent Methodist Church of Decatur, Alabama, came and performed for our church, several members felt led to start one at Chapel Hill. James Monroe, Brad Essary, and Misty Thompson all spearheaded this effort, and along with an excited group of youth and supportive parents, have been very successful. They have performed for several churches and youth functions and have presented skits as well as "human" videos.

We believe that God has great plans for this "almost 200 year old" church. With Brother Scotty’s guidance and our continued spiritual growth, we will continue to reach out into our community, nation, and world

New Sanctuary

New Sanctuary at Clausel Hill Independent Methodist Church

by Rev. Gary Redd

November 14, 2007, was Homecoming Sunday. It was also Dedication Sunday for the new sanctuary at Clausel Hill Independent Methodist Church near Booneville, Mississippi. This completely new sanctuary marks the third building in the 100+ year history of the church.

Brother Hal Daigre preached the dedication sermon with Roger Smith, Mayor of Booneville, bringing congratulations from the city. Brother Gary Redd, who has been the pastor of the local congregation since 1994, said, "We dedicate this sanctuary to the glory of God for the salvation of sinners and the entire sanctification of believers."

The old sanctuary has been made into a fellowship hall, a baptistry, and Sunday school classrooms. The entire complex has been bricked. The new facilities are completely debt free. This building was constructed with volunteer labor from the local church and other AIM churches. Local lay leader Eddie Henry was the designer and chief builder.
